ABOUT PERSONTAGE

People bring me their skin. I explain it.

For year's, people have sat across from me with the same question: what does my skin actually need? PERSONTAGE is the answer, in a bottle.

Your skin doesn't need more. It needs what's right for it.

PERSONTAGE comes from percentage.

Because in a formulation, the right percentage of an active is everything. Too little does nothing. Too much does harm. The number is the product.

WHY I STARTED READING LABELS

It began with a question I couldn't answer.

In 2016, I lost my mother to pancreatic cancer. She was 62.

She came from rural India. Homemade food, no tobacco, no alcohol, no eating out. She did her own work and lived the way we're all told to live. So the question wouldn't leave me alone: why her?

I started reading. And I found triclosan — a known carcinogen — in toothpaste. I am a dentist. I had never read a toothpaste label in my life. Nobody teaches you to. The medical representatives come to your clinic, they tell you which paste helps sensitivity, and you prescribe it.

That was the day the questions started, and they haven't stopped.

What I did about it

A hands-on course in Bangalore first — I made shampoo bars, conditioner bars, lotion bars. Fully eco-friendly, ticking every box, but realized Indians need to be educated about such product's and wasn't ready for them. (I still have those formulas. One day we will sell them online)

I realised the importance of ingredient and safe formulation knowledge and learned it properly: a three-year certification with the School of Natural Skincare, Bristol UK.

Then started making products in a small lab beside my clinic. People started asking for the products. As the demand for the product increased and more and more people started to buy — I learned you can't sell what you make without a licence. Six months of searching, and a unit an hour away from my home. Every batch since has meant that drive.

Three years on, it makes what people actually want.

Meet the founder.

PERSONTAGE is founded and formulated by Dr. Archana Gogte — cosmetic dentist (ICCD, NYU), certified in skincare, haircare and high-performance serum formulation (UK), and trained in cosmetics technology (IGMPI, India). She started this at 51, and still practises dentistry.

Every formula is created in-house: designed, tested, refined, perfected. No outsourcing. No white-label shortcuts.

PERSONTAGE began as two brands — Anahata for the fragranced range, PERSONTAGE for skincare. Over time the line blurred: the body washes went fragrance-free, and the split was costing focus that belonged in the formulations. So it became one brand, honestly labelled. Anahata Body Care & Cosmetics remains the company. PERSONTAGE is the name on the brand.

Beyond the lab, she's a student of Sanskrit, an author, an artist, a mother.

"Everything here is made in-house — formulation, manufacturing, labels, printing. That's not a boast; it's the only way to know exactly what's in the bottle. Some of that is discipline: as a doctor I know what hygiene and sanitisation actually mean, and I don't hand that to someone else. Some of it is knowledge — I know what belongs on a label, and at what percentage. And some of it, honestly, is that I enjoy it."

Skin deserves scientific honesty.

Skin isn't a surface — it's a living system with a barrier that protects, regulates and repairs. Respect it and it works. Overload it and problems begin. Every formula here protects the barrier first. We use certified natural ingredients, but nature alone isn't enough: structure, pH, compatibility and safe limits decide whether something works. Precision isn't marketing for us. It's responsibility.

Effective skincare is structured, not trend-led.

There is no miracle product. Pigmentation, acne, sensitivity and ageing need layered support — cleansing, controlled exfoliation, hydration, barrier repair, targeted actives. That's why our routines are pathways, not impulse buys.

Integrity over glamour.

No extravagant advertising. No decorative packaging. Small-batch manufacturing, traceable quality control, and every batch checked — raw materials verified, weights calibrated, pH confirmed, stability tested. We tell you what we use, why, and at what strength.

NO WHITE-LABEL MANUFACTURING

Made in our own unit. Every batch.

  • Raw materials verified for purity
  • Calibrated weighing, controlled mixing
  • pH adjusted deliberately, stability tested before release
  • Skin response monitored for a year or more before refinement
  • Formulations customised where sensitivities require it

Effectiveness doesn't come from complexity. It comes from control.

PACKAGING, EXPLAINED

Every choice here has a reason.

Cardboard tubes, zero plastic.

Plain kraft board, fully biodegradable, no plastic lining. They also travel well — which matters when everything you order is couriered across India.

HDPE bottles, not because it's cheap.

High-density polyethylene is tough, and — this is the point — it doesn't leach into what's inside it. Glass would be beautiful. Glass also breaks in transit. This is the honest compromise: the safest plastic, chosen deliberately.

Bottles that sit right in the hand.

Rounded on every side. You'll hold this thing every morning for months; it should feel like something you want to pick up.

Flip-tops on the washes and shampoos.

So you get the last drop out. Pumps waste product and use more plastic — we skipped them where we could.

If we weren't couriering across a country, we'd have used glass. Within the odds we had, this is the best we could do.

Education is part of the product.

Understanding your skincare matters as much as using it. Our bottles are numbered and colour-coded — the routine is printed on the product.

Customisation for sensitive skin

Education-first

Our vision.

  • We want to help the many people quietly living with skin concerns they haven't found real answers for.
  • Every formula has to be safe first. That part is never negotiable.
  • We keep our formulations as clean as we possibly can — the way they already are, and always will be.
  • Indian skin is different. It deserves care built for it, not borrowed from somewhere else.
  • We keep researching, so we can make newer, safer formulations.
  • Effective enough to solve a real problem. Safe enough to use every single day.
